(Note: If you are NOT currently using Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, or another PC-based mail client to retrieve the emails associated with your uBuilder account, you can disregard this message.)
We are continually making developments and improvements to our software and support to bring you better quality products and services.
In an effort to reduce spam and to increase virus protection, we will no longer provide IMAP or POP3 support. We know this change may affect how you communicate with your clients, so we want to present you with some better alternatives.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. These email changes will be effective February 7, 2008 at 12:00am MST. If there are any questions after reviewing the information below, please contact us – We’re here to help!
Handling E-mail in the Past
Traditionally, My e Biz has hosted your e-mail, and through the uBuilder handled your e-mail by providing a user interface to create e-mail accounts, e-mail addresses, and forward e-mail addresses based on your domain name. We have provided a web-based post office which allowed you to check mail anywhere you have an internet connection. We have also provided POP3 support for users wanting to use a PC-based mail client (i.e. Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Eudora, Opera).
What is Changing?
Due to some external issues, My e Biz will no longer be able to host your e-mail or provide POP3 support. This means as you install a domain name, the uBuilder has a feature which allows you to create an e-mail address based on your domain name. As you log into the uBuilder and visit the “Your E-mail” area of the uBuilder, you will be able to create up to ten e-mail addresses and forward those addresses to the e-mail of your choice. This feature has always been available. However, we will be removing the option of creating e-mail accounts and checking e-mail using the web-based post office. (Below is a screenshot of how this looks in the uBuilder now)

Who Does This Affect?
You will be affected if you are using the web-based post office to check e-mail, located at either:
What Are My Options?
Those users currently using POP or IMAP to check their email will be able to use either the uBuilder online post office or forward their email address(es) to an alternate email account.
Those users using the uBuilder online post office will continue to have access to their email via the online post office. However, at some point in the future the online post office will be phased out. It is mainly being made available so users can transition their contacts and email correspondence to an alternate email account.
It is strongly recommend you make arrangement to forward your email address(es) to an alternate email. We recommend Google’s Gmail because it will easily accommodates both sending email based on our domain name, and offers POP3 and IMAP support. How Does This Affect Me?
If you are currently forwarding e-mail to another e-mail address you will see no difference.
For those who do not have an e-mail address set up outside of the one(s) provided by the uBuilder, you will need to create an e-mail account and forward your uBuilder e-mail to it.
Most users have a primary or personal e-mail address they use for business and/or personal reasons, including an easy way to check mail. If you do not have a preferred e-mail account provider, there are many free e-mail providers to choose from. Here is a list of the more widely known providers:
Almost all Internet service providers ( ISP’s) provide e-mail accounts as well, such as:
We Recommend Using Google’s Gmail
Google provides many services not available by using the uBuilder mail services, like an address book and spam filtering. Also, for users set on using a PC-based e-mail client, Gmail provides both POP3 and IMAP support. Gmail also allows you to reply to your customers using an e-mail address based on your domain name. For step by step instructions on setting up a Gmail and configuring Gmail to work with your domain based email address, visit our Gmail Tutorials.
Why is My e Biz No Longer Hosting E-mail?
We feel there are industry leaders who provide a more reliable service as well as a broader range of services. By allowing users to direct e-mail to one of many free e-mail providers, e-mail communication between you and your customers will be more reliable, giving you more control over blocking spam, and provide you with a wider selection of contact management tools.
